Software Test Engineer (QA) Education and Qualifications Essential: *"Degree" level intellect Experience/ Skills Essential: *Two years experience working in a software test environment involving writing test procedures, designing test cases, manual test execution and fault identification.*Experience of testing software related to email and http (web) services *Good understanding of test methodologies and processes *Experience of Black Box testing *Excellent working knowledge of Linux *Use of defect reporting tools *Ability to create automated test scripts written in one or more of PERL or Unix *Shell *Experience of testing real-time application software as opposed to web site interfaces, etc.Desirable: *Solid knowledge of network infrastructure *Good technical writing skills *Knowledge/ working experience of mySQL / Oracle *Development experience in other languages; Java Personal Attributes Essential: *Technically orientated self starter able to make progress with minimal supervision *Analytical and methodical *Ability to think out of the box *Ability to work within a team environment with good communication skills *Excellent attention to detail and must be able to report any problems as quickly and accurately as possible Mindful of attention to detail *Able to prioritize and work within tight time scales in order to meet deadlines *Can accept and act upon constructive criticism Desirable: *Able to work under pressure *Flexible approach to work Personal Circumstances Essential: *Due to the nature of the companies services, t he jobholder must on occasion, be willing and available to work extra hours if the needs of the company require it *Present an acceptable appearance at all times
