Do you want to create a streaming games service for 5G mobiles?
We are looking for a software engineer on behalf of Appland and their small and hardworking tech team in central Gothenburg.
In short, Appland provide “Netflix for Mobile Games”. The service is delivered to 60 mobile operators and handset manufacturers worldwide and gives consumers free access to the 500+ best Android mobile games in the world, including Disney and Electronic Arts. Their next challenge is to add streaming to their games.
The team is a friendly bunch of skilled software engineers that handle everything from database design, network security, hosting in Amazon Web Services (AWS), backend development, web frontend and native Android development.
Below are some tasks you might be involved in:
Design global database cloud setups
Develop and deploy Edge Computing Services, including on-premise hosting using Kubernetes
Create new global services, written in Node.JS / Javascript running on AWS Lambda
Running, adapting and managing Android emulators.
Dynamically optimising framerate, image compressions and resolution
New features and optimisations for services written in Node.JS / Javascript, Scala, PHP
Implement big data analysation

It is also important that you are eager to broaden your experience and want to learn new things as you settle into the team.
Your profile
3+ years of backend development (preferably NodeJS)
Experience with DevOps, Docker, Linux & AWS
Worked with database design (e.g. DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, MySQL)
A genuine interest in software development – you need to be a quick learner
