The European organization is designed to meet customer needs and deliver services quickly and efficiently. For this our client has the Rotterdam-based European Logistics Centre (ELC), which fulfils over 2000 orders a day. They have also complemented their local country operations with the development of headquarters in two locations: Strategic headquarters in the UK and Operational headquarters in the Netherlands where the Consumer Team is based together with the ELC. Two factories in Germany and France, and a research and development centre complete the European organization.
Main Tasks:
This person is responsible for providing all aspects of 3rd line operational support for one or more server environments based upon the AIX, Linux, or Windows platforms. Participate in the development of standards for AIX, Linux, and Windows system configurations. Write operational procedures for 2nd and 3rd line support of AIX, Linux, and Windows systems. Perform release management (patching, updating, and upgrading) for AIX, Linux, and Windows systems. Ensure the stability of the AIX, Linux, and Windows systems. Participate in activities to improve and guarantee performance of AIX, Linux, and Windows systems.
Execute activities associated with continuous service improvements. Perform acceptance testing for new implementations of AIX, Linux, and Windows systems. Participate in the retirement of obsolete systems and their eventual replacement by next generation systems. Participate in the automation of systems management tasks. Perform regular preventive maintenance (microcode & firmware) on AIX, Linux, and Windows systems. Train OCC staff and work to handover basic tasks to the Service Desk or OCC. Cooperate and communicate effectively with other teams internal and external to the Infrastructure division. Work with third party partners, such as IBM, Dell, Red Hat, and Microsoft

Requirements
Required skills:
. Strong inter-personal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management. Independent problem solving; self-direction.
. Is comfortable with most aspects of UNIX or Windows systems administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software.
. Has a solid understanding of a UNIX or Windows operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts.
. Is familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure shares and directory services can use OS tools to check information in the DNS, understands basic routing concepts.
. Has the ability to program in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, VB a shell).
. Ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs.
Required background:
. Three to five years of UNIX or Windows systems administration experience.
