Systems and Network Engineer

Location: MAX IV-Laboratory, Lund

MAX IV Laboratory has operated successfully for more than 25 years and is currently building the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund.
More than 900 scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world are coming to the MAX IV Laboratory every year to use the x-rays produced by our electron accelerators. They do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology. 140 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory. The MAX IV facility, the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in research infrastructure, will be the brightest source of x-rays worldwide and will replace the existing laboratory, which today consists of the storage rings MAX I, II and III.

Job assignments


The successful candidates mission will be to;
-work on the deployment of the MAX IV network,
-ensure the reliable operation for the MAX IV network and improve the
service to our users,
- make sure that critical network tasks and projects can be addressed
all the time,
- investigate new technologies for increased security, performance and
functionality of the network
- expansion of the wireless network in the facility as the project proceeds
The work involves network development and administration, system
administration and troubleshooting


Qualifications

You have deep knowledge in Switching, LAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, Linux and VMWare. Experience of enterprise firewall configuration and network security is a requirement. You have to master one or several scripting languages such as sh, Perl or python. VoIP knowledge is desirable. You have significant years experience working in the relevant field(s). An engineer degree is also desirable but not a requirement. You have several years of experience of working in a large switched network and with enterprise wireless solutions. It is also a merit to have worked with IDS or IPS.
