Systems Engineers

The department of Humans, Systems and Structures (6300) consists of five groups and is now looking for persons that can strengthen the competence within the group Intelligent Vehicle Technologies (6320). The IVT group consists of 20 engineers and performs applied research and development in the automotive industry with the primary goals to increase traffic safety and transport efficiency. Our mission is to secure strategic technologies, innovations and competences for the Volvo group business areas. Our focus is on the development of systems that assist the driver in order to improve safety and efficiency. Examples of such functionality are; automated collision avoidance, monitoring of driver drowsiness, adaptive cruise control, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, driver information systems, etc. About the position We are looking for several highly motivated engineers to strengthen our team. You will join our multinational team of research and development engineers focusing on the development of advanced driving assistance functions for the commercial transport industry. You will work with advanced sensors and prototype vehicles. The functions you develop will have a clear basis in the needs and requirements of the end user. You will have opportunity to lead research and development projects and work in an international environment in the forefront of automotive research. Depending on your profile, your work will include one of more of the following parts: Specify requirements Develop advanced vehicle functions in research or serial product development projects Work with the integration and specification of advanced sensors ( e.g. gyro, radar, lidar or cameras) Performing experimental tests in vehicles Carrying out tests in both virtual and real environments Driver-vehicle interaction Project management Experience and qualifications: You have a masters degree or PhD in Engineering Physics, Electronics, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or similar. We are looking for persons with a strong technical background in one of the following profiles: Profile: Driving Assistance systems Algorithm and signal processing Control systems and filter design Vehicle dynamics modeling System and software architecture Function and/or software development Power train control Sensors and data fusion Profile: Driver-vehicle Interaction Interaction design Driver-vehicle integration SW development Infotainment System and software architecture In addition, you are familiar with tools such as Simulink, Matlab and CANalyzer, as well as rapid prototyping and systems development principles. License for heavy truck (C or CE) is considered an advantage. As a person you are driven, innovative and you have a passion for problem solving. You are open-minded and outgoing. You enjoy team work and can take advantage of a multi-disciplinary research environment. At the same time you are able to work independently and drive development on your own. You most likely have a genuine interest in the automotive industry and applied technology development, especially in relation to traffic safety and human factors. 3 positions We are looking 3 persons, each with one of the above profiles, to strengthen our team. We are looking for both experienced senior engineers as well as some with less experience but with a great drive to learn.
