Are you our future Technical Business Development Manager in Cape Town, South Africa?

Your position

On the front line of the company, you will be dedicated to creating a pipeline of integrated energy projects that use Azelio’s unique long-duration storage solution. The goal is to drive sustainable growth through boosting sales and forging strong client and partner relationships.

As a part of the global Business Development team, you will develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction by creating a pipeline of integrated energy projects in the C&I target markets, with a focus on Southern Africa regions together with our local representatives. The key segments you will be working on are mining, hotel resorts, agriculture, oil and gas, resilience, and off-grid communities and the aim of your work is to develop and implement comprehensive business models together with financial and technical partners.

- Elaborate Azelio´s project development strategy and business models to ensure adherence to the relevant regulatory environment
- Analyze and adapt our strategy to the conditions of the various target markets in the Sub-Saharan African regions and find new business opportunities, including new geographic markets, client segments, growth areas, and trends
- Identify financial and technical partners on the global and regional levels for co-development activities, set up joint project development companies, and work closely with local representatives/sales partners
- Collaborate with the staff of involved technical departments throughout the organization, lead project teams, and support other BD managers when requested
- Lead sales negotiations, price the product/service, and prepare sales contracts that ensure adherence to law-established rules and guidelines
- Work with the Marketing Department to coordinate communication and marketing strategies in different target markets such as planning sales campaigns as well as attend at relevant seminars, conferences, and events

Your profile

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably also with education in business administration or equivalent
- Experience of working as a business or project development manager in the energy sector for at least 5 years, preferably already working in South Africa
- Fluent in English; proficiency in a dominant regional language is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a wide range of people, both internally and externally. Strong IT skills in MS Office and CRM systems

We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and dedicated person who has strong skills in networking and negotiation. You have the ability to build and maintain key relationships in the region and you’re good at setting your own goals and motivating yourself to fulfill them.

You will be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town and report to the Country Director.

You have the availability and desire to travel, more extensively from time to time, we believe more than 90 days abroad will be required.
