Technical Expert - Vehicle Attribute, CAE Solidity

The section Solidity is one of five section within the department User Experience & Craftsmanship (UE&C) at Volvo Cars. Solidity is responsible for attribute development of solidity including Squeak and rattle (dynamic and static) and solid function. They handle all phases of the development; annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialization and current model quality. They work in a X-functional work process with Design, Product Planning and the development units within R&D. In your position as Technical Expert - CAE Solidity, you will work closely with the Attribute leaders at Solidity, but you will be a part of the Solidity CAE team at the section Digital Analysis & Visualisation (DAV), also within UE&C. A big challenge is to continue to build capability for attribute verification with virtual methods and tools to manage shorter time plans, without physical builds.

As Technical Specialist you will support and strengthen Volvo Cars as a Luxury Brand Manufacturer and support the company long term strategies and targets. Since absence of Squeak & Rattle (S&R) is a must for premium cars, you will provide deep knowledge of current situation on the market and future expectation regarding Squeak & Rattle. You will provide technical expertise about Squeak & Rattle for corporate management, engineering and suppliers. You will also provide technical expertise to Squeak & Rattle development and core design engineers to support specific root cause understanding and the development of generic design strategies for Squeak & Rattle prevention.

Main responsibilities

* Develop CAE strategies in the area of Solidity. This includes both product and methods
* Develop state of the art Solidity tools and methods
* Contribute to target development, target cascading, and system solutions by conducting research and investigations
* Implement Squeak & Rattle root cause findings into PSS strategies and guidelines as well as lead implementation into vehicle programs
* Partly lead the Squeak & Rattle Competence Arena. Write and present technical reports where required
* Lead the external and internal CAE network. Feed results into CAE squeak & rattle simulation tools
* Act as contact person regarding cross brand activities
* Educate successor to own position

Required qualifications

* M.Sc or clear evidence of equivalent experience & knowledge
* Extensive knowledge in Squeak & Rattle. At least 10 years experience in CAE within Structural Dynamics
* Strong record of technical innovation/contribution/leadership resulting in implementation in products and methods within CAE
* Evidence of continuous competence improvement
* Continuous evidence of technology transfer within Volvo Cars or technical societies
* Strong evidence of continued efforts to better understand and serve customers in pursuit of technical excellence
