Arbetsbeskrivning

Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery in Finspång, is now looking to employ a:

Calculation engineer within turbine aerodynamics for gas turbine development.
The department is in need of one more turbine aerodynamicist. The department consists of just over 60 employees plus consultants where 8 work within the turbine aerodynamics group. The group is very international and diverse with six different nationalities. The turbine engineering department is part of the component organization with responsibility for the entire turbine development and design of the gas turbine for engine types SGT-600, SGT-700, SGT-750 and SGT-800. The power ranges from 25 MW of SGT-600 to 54MW of SGT-800. The turbine aerodynamics group is responsible for the turbine performance and the aerodynamical design of vanes and blades.

The role of an aerodynamicist includes being part of both minor and major development projects. Development of new products, support to sales and service organization and development of new technology. Developing a gas turbine means a lot of collaboration with performance engineers, heat transfer and cooling engineers as well as designers and mechanical integrity engineers. Being an aerodynamicist means being first in the design project process and gives a great opportunity to learn and collaborate with other disciplines.

Except for commercial CFD codes the turbine aerodynamics group is also responsible for maintaining and developing our own calculation tools like 1D/2D aero dynamical tools, profiling tool, integration tools, turbine layout tool and others related to them.

What are my responsibilities?

• Preforming 1D/2D turbine performance calculations.
• Calculating performance improvements in development projects.
• Working with both in-house and commercial 3D CFD tools.
• Development and maintenance of our calculation codes.
• General fluid dynamics calculations in hot gas path, cavities, diffusers and similar.
• In stationary calculations in commercial CFD codes, particle calculations and other special applications.
• Profiling and geometry evaluation in our in-house profiling tool as well as NX.

How do I qualify for this role?

• You have at least a Master of Science degree within engineering or similar, a PhD degree is a merit.
• General knowledge of fluid dynamics.
• Great communication and collaboration skills.
• A good understanding of other disciplines like heat transfer, manufacturing and mechanical integrity.
• You are fluent in both spoken and written English.
• If you speak and write Swedish this is a merit but not required.
• An interest to further develop both your own and the group’s knowledge.
