The Department of Radio and Space Science at Chalmers University of Technology is looking for two motivated PhD students that will be placed within the Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics group at the Onsala Space Observatory. Job Description The first position will be devoted to observational and/or theoretical work with ALMA (Atacama Large Millimetre Array) and aimed at understanding water in planetary systems. The second position will be dedicated to work based on data obtained with the Herschel Space Observatory and in one of the following three topics: 1) Astrochemistry in the Herschel era 2) The extraordinary deaths of ordinary stars 3) Planetary discs around solar-type stars Much more information about these positions can be found on our website: http://www.chalmers.se/rss/EN/news-summary/vacancies/positions/two-phd-positions-in Required Qualifications The successful applicant should have a M.Sc. in physics, chemistry or equivalent. Excellent knowledge of written as well as spoken English is also a requirement. PhD student positions are limited to five years and will normally include 20% departmental work, mostly teaching duties. The salary for the position is specified in Chalmers' general agreement for PhD student positions.
