UI Design Engineer - Telecom

Job Description You will join a group developing application software at our Client. In this role you will primarily work on the design of user interfaces for a variety of mobile phone applications.Working within the differentiation development team which specialises in the incubation and development of new features for mobile phones, you will be responsible for understanding the UI requirements for each of the applications under development and designing an interface which meets them.You will be required to develop a good understanding of the interfaces delivered by existing client mobile phones.You will be required to work with application developers to ensure that your designs are feasible, and with application consumers to determine their requirements.You will also be expected to be able to prototype your designs and perform usability studies before the interface is actually implemented. Key Functions: --------------------------------------------------- The main tasks you are expected to perform include, but are not limited to: 1.Translating business requirements or business needs into graphical user interface design prototypes and finished designs.2. Suggesting user interface solutions and usability studies including but not limited to: conducting studies or interviews, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports and presentations.3. Translating customer requests into tangible product changes and communicates these to the implementation engineers.4.The timely provision of reports on progress to your team leader.Depending on circumstance these may be verbal or written.5.The provision of advice to your team leader for the purposes of project planning and budgeting etc.Skills and Experience: ------------------------------------------------ 1.Between 3 - 8 years of relevant work experience in graphical user interface design, preferably at least 2 years applying these skills to the design and development of mobile phone applications.2. Experience in Graphic Design and associated tools.3. Experience in Web Design and associated tools.4. Good understanding and appreciation of Ergonomics.5. Interest in keeping up to date with current design trends.6. Experience with UI modelling methodology.7. Understanding and experience with FLASH technology from Macromedia is desirable.8. Intimate knowledge of Graphical design software.9. Experience of programming in C or C++ would be advantageous.10. Experience in producing design specifications would be advantageous.11. Ability to explain concepts, adapts information and style according to audience, and ensure that requirements and objectives are clearly communicated and understood.UK
