Underground Business Manager - Africa

Arbetsbeskrivning

Are you a data-driven superstar leader who is able to balance the need for efficiency, speed, and control with flexibility, customer service, and passion to win? If so, we want you to join our team!
We are redesigning our front line business management model to drive profitable and measurable market share increase. This gives YOU a unique opportunity to work in a truly international, dynamic environment and collaborating closely with both front and back line management teams.
This is a senior position and reports to the Vice President of Underground division, but includes a seamless engagement with Customer Centers (“CC”) and our end customers. The overall objective is to give extra focus to CC and customer needs in the region, including faster decision-making. This role has a flexible location to any Epiroc office within the region.
Mission
As Underground Business Manager your mission, with your team, is to maximize our share of spend and profitability across the underground portfolio, strengthen our product and application knowledge base within the sales teams you support, act as a sales enabler to translate the value of our Epiroc underground offering, and design and lead a team that suits the unique needs of the customers and markets within your region.
It is critical that you are able to attain these objectives in a lean and efficient way, managing our costs as well as our outcomes. Ensuring internal collaboration and satisfaction from the CC teams within your region is a defining measurement of success for this role.
You will be accountable for owning the business – divisional profitability, market share, and demand planning – for your region, and will be fully mandated and supported by the Division to manage our business interests to ensure a healthy and sustainable business result, combined with a high level of customer satisfaction, internal and external. Structured engagement planning, stakeholder management, and a thorough understanding of regional markets and customers, are vital for our future success. Although the team will report to the division, the local customer relationship is always owned by the front line sales organization, who retain the responsibility for local sales execution.
Your role from a sales perspective is to lead the business strategy development and territory management planning on behalf of Underground, and to partner with the sales execution teams to win as much business as possible, profitably.
Main responsibilities
Your primary responsibility is to ensure that we are taking market share at a healthy level in terms of volume and profitability in the underground space, and in this you are a partner to the sales teams who are responsible to execute sales within each CC. You and your team will need to work within a matrix of continual and sometimes conflicting demands, being able to prioritize needs based on a solid business case approach.
Knowing your numbers and ensuring decisions are taken based on data will be two keys to success in this role.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Full ownership of underground business performance (P&L) and underground territory management progress in your respective region
Driving price quality, input to market area price developments, managing incentivizing vs price realization
Partnering with Division Commercial team to manage commercial and business risk on entry to new deals, contracts, POs, etc.
Working with your own team of Product & Application Specialists and the Customer Solutions teams in the Division to enable the sales teams to translate the value of our customer solutions to our customers (value selling)
Acting as a forward operating arm of the Underground Division, empowered to execute front line decisions on behalf of the Division within their given mandates, enabling sales teams to work and respond to customers more quickly and thoroughly;
Participate in customer negotiations as required or requested by either CC or Division;
Act as the information conduit between the Division and the CC organizations;

Who are you?
Let us start what you do not have to be: you are not required to be an engineer or a product expert to exceed the expectations on this role. You will have a strong commercial background, experience managing profit and loss, and solid financial (balance sheet/business case development) knowledge. You are an excellent negotiator and influencer. You are organized, data driven, and very collaborative.
You are efficient and proactive, with strategic execution skills developed across a wide industry experience. You have excellent communication skills in English (mandatory), focused and transparent, and can easily develop trusting relationships with stakeholders at all levels of business. You share a strong passion to win, but clearly understand that not all business is healthy business, and you are comfortable setting boundaries and establishing clear ways of working in your region to drive longevity for Epiroc Underground.
You have experience in leadership positions where you have fostered a climate that values people and diversity, focused on business results in combination with customer centricity. Times of change and transformation require leadership with clear vision but also creativity through challenging the status quo, thinking outside the box for opportunities for organizational and business development and delivering outstanding results.
You will be required to travel regularly within your region and occasionally outside your region as part of a global team.
