The Research & Innovation Office at Scania R&D is responsible for equipping Scania with the right capabilities to take advantage of new technologies and create new offers in transport and logistics, as well as to coordinate and communicate research and innovation within Scania. The department is responsible for Scania's internal strategy and process for this work and supports the organization with facilitation of open innovation, intrapreneurship, venture clienting with external startups, and contacts for academic and industrial parties.

Your Role

In this role you will work in Scania’s venture client unit, cross-functional within Scania and towards the external startup-scenes globally in collaboration with other large global companies and initiatives. Your home base will be Innovation Office which is a part of Research & Innovation Office at Scania R&D. In our team you find business developers, designers, innovation managers, project leaders and researchers.

You will support initiatives aiming at increasing speed of innovation through exploring new business ideas together with external emerging companies, typically new but fast-growing tech based companiespartnerships and startups.
With an entrepreneurial approach you will run initiatives to evaluate the future partnerships and business opportunities that are important for Scania now and in the future based.

Within our participation in the global venture client alliance Combient Foundry you will work directly with partner companies to scope the business development and identify sweet spots for new technologies. You will be part of establishing calls for startups within certain business or technology areas to find the future opportunities and new revenue streams.

You will tap into and leverage on the current network of startups but also build a large personal network within the startup scene and innovation landscape globally.

Working tasks:


• Scout and gather internal needs and new opportunity areas for external collaboration
• Run case initiatives for global calls regarding new opportunities, and to advise on PoC, Pilot and integration projects.
• Lead and facilitate workshops and work groups within the initiatives and evaluation process together with startups and within Scania.
• Actively support and drive the Innovation Journey at Scania
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the R&I program
• Together with colleagues at Innovation Office proactively assess and evaluate potential business opportunities based on actionable insights from research projects

Your profile:

You have an entrepreneurial problem-solving attitude and feel conformable working within large networks of both individuals, companies and startups. You always seek new ways to boost your colleagues creative confidence have a passion for designing new solutions in disruptive business environments. You are a tireless inspirer and probably influence people merely by your presence and have vast experience and innate communicative savviness.We think success in this role requires experience both from corporate innovation management and from startup/scaleup, preferably as founder/manager or active investor.

Just as important as relevant education is your passion, attitude, coaching skills as well as you leadership.
You have a Master’s degree or equivalent and several years of experience working with business development


• Experience from working in a startup context. Preferably as co-/founder or manager, or as active investor.
• You bring deep knowledge and experience of complex and consultative business innovation
• Have developed businesses in an ecosystem context.
• You have a high ability to build and develop lasting relationships to drive change
• You follow trends with an understanding of the technology implications of the automotive industry and the ecosystem of transport and logistics
• You are communicative and have experience of starting, running and scaling business
• You are a true team player with a doer mentality who can easily manage high complexity and uncertainty
• You have proven track record of creating effective teams and strong stakeholder management capabilities
