Vice President and Head of IT

We’re looking for an agile and business-minded Vice President and Head of IT for Sandvik Coromant – our largest division within Sandvik Machining Solutions, bursting with passionate people and industry leading solutions in metal cutting. Your mission
You’re heading our Sandvik Coromant IT department, and you deliver on a solid IT strategy closely connected to our business. A strategy where we integrate management and operational IT as part of our various business functions, and where we find the best mix of in-house resources and strategic external alliances to ensure capacity and balance the demand of our customers. You make sure to deliver stable, secure and compliant operations and, at the same time, secure an agile delivery of new technology in close cooperation with our business functions. You also establish a solid link between Enterprise IT and Product IT, and you define and organize IT-related improvement projects. By overseeing costs, value and risks, you advise our management, suggest actions and facilitate decision-making.


We work in an ever-changing environment with new technologies emerging every day. To stay ahead, you actively monitor advancements and trends, and you identify innovative and efficient solutions that drive a competitive advantage for us. This also means close collaboration with partners, suppliers and stakeholders – across the entire Sandvik business, as well as externally – to optimize the use of modern technology and the strategic benefits connected to it.

You aim for a truly global IT organization, and you create a setting where team spirit, development and best practices are cornerstones. You also coach and empower your own team of eight direct reports. By connecting people, technology and processes, you deliver on expectations and agreements, and you establish business driven solutions. You report directly to the President of Sandvik Coromant, and are an active member of the Sandvik Coromant Management Group and the Sandvik Machining Solutions IT Management team. The location is flexible, with a preference for any of our Sandvik Coromant offices in Europe, and global travel is included.


About you
We’re looking for a confident and inclusive leader, with proven skills in people and performance management and the ability to successfully bring a strategy to life. You have deep experiences and knowledge of the IT domain, and are truly interested in emerging technologies. Your career includes similar roles in a global setting, and preferably in the manufacturing industry. You’re also experienced in driving transformation and change – naturally within IT, but also by leading other business related programs. A master’s in IT, Computer Science or another technology field is required, and as we’re present worldwide, you have both cultural awareness and excellent communication skills in English.


As a person, you’re self-motivated, organized and resilient, and you make sure to see things through to the end to accomplish successful results. You mix these characteristics with being an agile and transparent team player – someone who builds trust, communicates clearly, share insights and inspires people. You’re both innovative and highly tech-driven, and you challenge us to make smart, timely decisions and look at different perspectives. You also present detailed technical information in ways that everyone can grasp. Quite simply, you speak IT from a business point of view!
