Arbetsbeskrivning

Thesis Proposal
This master thesis is suitable for two students that are completing studies in machine design or similar on MSc level. Knowledge of CAD and FE-method is required. Desired start date is Jan-Feb 2023.
Background
Volvo Construction Equipment, a division of Volvo Group, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of construction equipment such as wheel loaders, haulers, excavators, road machinery, and compact machines. To maintain a leading position, it is important to develop innovative products with high quality and, at the same time, high energy-efficient powertrains.
Volvo CE, as part of the Volvo Group, continuously improve their core products and methods to meet ever increasing demands.
Project Summary
The aim of this project is to explore capability of the CREO CAD software by applying it on a new Axle design.
The main activities are:
Apply design process with CREO instead of CATIA V5 and modify process as needed
Design an axle casing and drive head for a wheel loader replacing an existing design
Verify the design using FE calculations in Ansys

It is suitable for one student working with 3D CAD and one student working with FE analysis in parallel.

A full report in English of the work carried out shall be prepared and presented to staff at Volvo CE. It will be required for the students to perform the thesis at Volvo CE facilities in Eskilstuna.
