About Bio-Works 🧪 Bio-Works enables scientists to achieve their purification goals, from laboratory research to large-scale bioprocess production. Our next-generation agarose-based chromatography resins (WorkBeads™) deliver high performance in the purification of proteins, peptides and other biomolecules, supporting safer diagnostics and more effective biopharmaceuticals. Through collaboration with customers and partners, we help make important medicines available and accessible to everyone.
About the role 👩🏼‍🔬 We are now seeking a Director of R&D and Applications to lead our development and applications research functions. You will play a key role in shaping Bio-Works’ product portfolio, ensuring scientific excellence, driving application development, and delivering robust data that clearly demonstrates product performance.
This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on scientific execution, working closely across functions including Sales, Marketing, Operations and with external partners.
What You’ll Do
Product & Process Development

Lead design, development and lifecycle care of Bio-Works products


Deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality standards


Solve technical and manufacturability challenges


Ensure regulatory compliance and QMS alignment


Applications & Scientific Validation

Govern scientific integrity of application data


Oversee development of application resources (notes, technical content, posters)


Provide clear comparative proof of product performance


Support Sales with training, customer meetings and scientific expertise


Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams


Prioritize and allocate resources across projects


Uphold structured project management practices


Represent Bio-Works in scientific forums and at conferences


Who You Are 🎓

University degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Polymer Science, Engineering or related field


Significant experience in product/application development in life science or biopharma


Strong chromatography and purification knowledge


Proven leadership and project portfolio management skills


Excellent communication skills in English
