Group Category Manager - Direct Material Procurement

We have an exciting new opportunity for leaders within Procurement. In this role you will lead, develop, and empower a knowledgeable team of professional buyers within Direct Material Global Procurement- together we can reach our goal in scaling up Polestar.

Polestar grows continuously and we are therefore searching for strong leaders to be the Group Category Managers within the following areas:

- Software & Electronics
- Electric Propulsion Systems
- Structure
- Interior
- Chassis


Together with a global Procurement team you will work in close collaboration with stakeholders and oversee enhancement of running business and all sourcing activities for engineering development projects. You will be part of developing a global sourcing and business strategy in line with company objectives/values.

This role will report to Head of Direct Material and is located either at our HQ in Gothenburg-Sweden or in Coventry-UK or in Shanghai-China.

What you'll do

- Coach the team and together with them develop the supplier base to meet sustainability goals, increased transparency & traceability, total cost of ownership (TCO), quality, on time delivery and project objectives
- Collaborate with stakeholders and project teams to ensure procurement deliveries according to project requirements
- Collaborate with global Procurement team to build the Procurement function of the future by design, optimization and adaptations of the procurement process based on the current performance, stakeholder needs and overall company objectives/values
- Be accountable for global end-to-end deliveries of the Category team including strategy, sourcing and contract negotiations
- Discover and advocate new technologies and innovations
- Create career development plans with your team and follow up on the progress
- Inspire others to make the world a better place

Who you are

- Strong networking skills and collaborative mind-set in a global environment
- A mature and strong team player
- Familiar with global direct material/ automotive supply base, with sharp discernment and powerful market analysis ability
- Positive and passionate - nothing is impossible mind-set
- Approx. 5 years+ procurement experience
- Experience of developing and leading global procurement teams is beneficial
- University degree in engineering, business management or equivalent
