About the role

As Innovation Development Manager, you are one of the key stakeholders in establishing GTP’s overall innovation agenda. This includes leading early phase investigations and pre-studies, primarily in the Electromobility and Hydrogen/Fuel cells area, as well as exploring different types of business models and partnerships, all to secure Volvo Group’s leading position in these domains. The role also includes being the purchasing interface towards the Group Trucks Technology (GTT) Innovation Managers in CampX Gothenburg as well as other innovation stakeholders in Volvo Group. You are also, together with your other Innovation Development Manager colleagues, responsible for being the purchasing interface towards different external innovation hubs and networks.

Another important task in this role is to enable successful networking, scouting, and integration of innovations and new technologies from external suppliers and partners in the Group Trucks’ Technology Development initiatives and to continue our transition from a reactive to a proactive way of working in early phases.

Who are you?
You have a Masters or Bachelor university degree within relevant field (e.g. in Purchasing Management), or comparable work experience.
You have experience from Purchasing and/or Product Development within the automotive industry.
Background within Innovation Development is a strong merit.

We are looking for a person with passion to develop sustainable solutions with pioneering products and services for the transport and infrastructure industries. If you have a strong drive and like to have fun at work, this will be a job opportunity that will suit you well.

We believe that you have a result oriented mindset, which will help you to take on challenging work assignments in a successful way. In addition to this, you have the ability to learn quickly when faced with new issues. Furthermore, you are future oriented and loves the challenges our broad scope brings. It is not standard purchasing; we look for a true change agent and developer. Being the spider in the web and being part of a global organization, it is important to have good communication skills and to be fluent in English, both spoken and written.

We believe that you have a customer-oriented mindset and the ability to lead, inspire, challenge and coach different teams. In this context, it is important that you can act as a connector and leader towards the rest of the GTP organization. As we are solving a variety of different issues, often starting with limited information, we believe you are agile, pragmatic, driven and always open to learn new things. We have a strong emphasis on collaboration and sharing, hence we expect you to be a team player that builds relationships over time.

What can we offer you?

We can offer you an exciting and global working environment which will give you valuable experience that will contribute to your future development within the Volvo Group. In this role, you will have the privilege to manage and drive the Purchasing innovation activities in the early phases. Last but not least, you will get the opportunity to interact with highly committed colleagues from different cultures and to influence the development of our future products and services.
