The School of Arts and Languages at Högskolan Dalarna seeks a Lecturer in Japanese Ref nr 2008/516/30 Description of the position We are seeking a lecturer in Japanese for a half- to full-time post.The post is temporary, from 1 January 2009 to 30 June 2009, with the possibility of extension beyond that date.The post is based in Falun, Sweden.Demand for the subject has increased markedly in recent years and it is likely that if the post is extended it will be full-time.Duties Responsibilities for this post are teaching, development and planning of courses at the introductory level.A significant portion of the teaching is done via distance-learning technology.Other responsibilities include participation in the development and administration of the subject area as a whole.Qualifications Necessary qualifications for the post are: 1.Completion of undergraduate education (bachelor's degree) or the equivalent, 2. Pedagogical training or equivalent experience, 3. Demonstrated teaching ability (HF 4 kap 9 §).Criteria Hiring criteria include the amount of expertise in the areas specified in the qualifications for the post, as well as administrative and other skills relevant to the duties described for the post.In addition, the applicant's skills at developing and leading cooperation with fellow staff members and the local community, as well as keeping informed about research and development in the subject area will be taken into account.Teaching skills are of greater importance than scientific expertise for this post.National goals regarding the job market, equality, and society will also be taken into consideration (HF 4 kap 15 §). Additional Qualifications Applicants will preferably be native speakers of or have native-level competence in Japanese, as well as a university degree in the language.Since the staff of the university's language department work closely together, a cooperative attitude is necessary for the position.Experience with teaching and course development as well as experience with internet-based learning is also of merit.
