Are you in the final phase of your studies and about to start your master thesis work? Do you want to join our journey in cutting edge technology? We are looking for two master thesis students in a project for a moisture sensor in a high-speed drying process during spring 2023, and you are welcome to apply today!





Your role as Master Thesis student:

In a conventional microwave oven, a door closes the microwave compartment during operation. The door contains well-proven choke structures to preventexternal microwave radiation. In industrial applications for microwave heating and drying, tunnel ovens with a continuous flow of material are used. In this case, there are no doors for microwave containment and the oven need to be open in both ends to allow the conveyor belt with material to pass. The size of the openings and the high microwave power of these ovens implies that in- and output sections with complex choke structures are included to keep the external microwave radiation within allowed safety limits. Several principles of choke structures are known from literature, but they are often bulky, costly and, depending on application, not always having the required performance level.



This project aims at, with a specific application defined, exploring different choke concepts as well as other means to reduce the external microwave radiation and propose the most optimal solution for this application. The work is foreseen to include a literature study, simulation and experiments for validation. Type of project: Literature study, simulations, experiments





Who are you?

We believe that you are in the final phase of your master program in Electronic Design, Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering or similar, where Microwave theory and design, electromagnetic simulation, measurement technology, data analysis, microprocessor programming has been a significant part.
