Project Planning Manager

The Project Support & Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Project Planning Manager.

Description of division
The Project support and Finance division is the department responsible for project support, which includes project and risk management processes and skills as well as managing total cost, schedule and risk for the construction of ESS of the European Spallation Source. We are also responsible for finance, which includes accounting, cash flow, currencies, external reporting including annual and quarterly reports and internal reporting. The department reports to the ESS Project Support and Administration Director. The Project support and Finance division currently consists of 16 persons but recruitment is ongoing.

Main responsibilities




• Create, manage and maintain planning, cost and schedule for projects in the design and construction of the European Spallation Source

• Ensure that the project plan and schedule are aligned with the top-level planning

• Make project forecasts, both schedule and cost

• Monitor and report project performance and progress through Earned Value management

• Support the project managers in the planning and reporting process

• Manage project risk register

• Participate in establishing processes for planning, reporting and monitoring projects

• Participate in other activities performed by the Project support and Finance division


Qualifications
You have a Master of Science, Master of Business Administration or other relevant degree, and experience of working in a complex (both technical but also organisational) international project environment, including several years experience of project and risk management.

Desirable is experience of:



• Earned Value Management methodology

• XLPM (PROPS) or PMI project management methodology

• Primavera P6 (planning software)

• Deltech COBRA (Earned Value Management Software)



Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languagues would be an advantage.

Duration & Location
This position is a 1-year temporary contract due to parental leave. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
