automation.

The group of Electrical Machines and Intelligent Motion runs power electronics, motion control, AC drives and electrical machines projects for different applications from < kW to 10's of MW requiring a high degree of innovation, creativity and application knowledge.

Your tasks:
Research in drives and control of industrial motors and power
electronic systems.You will create new concepts for industrial robot drives and invent control schemes for new motor types, asserting speed, accuracy, and productivity beyond today's capability.

You challenge existing design rules in circuits, systems and applications, to innovate ABB systems and products.You participate in or lead projects to evaluate or create new technologies, benchmark competitors, conceive patents and forecast trends.

Your work involves modeling, simulation, development and analysis using your theoretical and practical skills with the aim to widen the application field and competiveness of ABB products.

Your profile:
You are a Ph.D in Power Electronics or related field.Proficiency in circuits, design, operation, applications, modeling, or control is essential.Experience with thermal, or mechanical aspects of power electronics applications is a merit.

You are an action oriented team player who is analytical and innovative.The close collaboration with other R&D departments and the ABB Business Areas requires you to be an effective communicator and fluent in English.
