Reporting to the R&D Team Manager, you will become part of Motor Starting & Safety in Västerås. The unit is part of the Electrification/Smart Power division and has as its business concept to develop, manufacture, market and sell the low voltage products for which we have world responsibility within ABB. These include large contactors, soft starters and arc guards. We have the market's widest range of energy efficient low voltage appliances and installation products and turn to customers in all industries such as OEM, industry, distribution, wholesalers and consultants worldwide. Your responsibilities
A Member of Integrated Production Unit (IPU) as a technical expert, find ideas and solutions to resolve all type of production issues.
Responsible for implementing new solutions/changes in production and follow up/analyze tests done by the laboratory.
Propose design changes to our Lead Engineer.
Responsible for/follow up the local product cost, lead brainstorming meeting to propose cost reduction projects.
Connect with relevant groups and professional networks to broaden areas of knowledge and expertise.
Follow-up new development project, propose technical solution taking into account the design to cost and design for manufacturing constraints.
Follow-up tools realization, pilot the first productions, and identify and drive update of external replacement tools.
Be part of Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and Quality-circles.
Participate in evaluation of new suppliers and in collaboration with Quality department towards the suppliers.

Your background
Bachelors´ or Masters’ Degree in Mechanical or Electro-Technical Engineering.
More than 2 years of experience possibly on industrial products production.
Out-of-the-box thinking and a problem-solving attitude.
Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills in both Swedish and English.
