Safety Officer in industrial construction

Safety officer
We are looking for a proactive Safety Officer who shall support the field personnel with advices and guidance on the implementation of safety requirements. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according not only to legal standards but also to Company’s standards. Do you have a University degree within the technical field, preferably civil engineer, experience as safety officer or good knowledge on industrial construction/commissioning works in the chemical industry you are most welcome to apply.



Duties and skills:

Our customer will build a new factory and needs a Safety Supervisor who are ready to support this Project in taking the necessary steps in improving safety awareness and behaviors at site, at every level. You will be a responsible individual who focuses on prevention and the goal of the Project is to establish a safe workplace according not only to legal standards but also to Company’s standards. The candidate shall be ready to support the Project in taking the necessary steps in improving safety awareness and behaviors at site, at every level.


Responsibilities
• Attend weekly safety walks and provide inputs.
• Attend weekly safety meetings as Client’s point of contact.
• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventive measures
• Monitor effectiveness of safety measures and procedures established by the Project.
• Inspect site and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity , organize corrective actions in collaboration with Contractor and follow up their implementation until completion.
• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem immediately life threatening.
• Record, report and contribute to the investigation of incidents to determine conditions, causes and mitigation/preventive/corrective actions to be taken.
• Prepare reports on site Safety progress and activities and inform upper management accordingly.
• Get familiar with site procedures and be able to communicate them to the field level despite the possible language barrier in a positive way.
• Give the project training to newcomers when required.




Personal skills:

You are a person who is clear, informative and able to keep training sessions with the personnel. You are also curious by nature, willing to learn about new technics and have the ability to adapt to new situations as well as can think out of the box. Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) and Swedish is very important. The candidate shall have skills in presenting and explaining health and safety topics in a constructive and positive approach based on BBS principles as well as identifying and prioritizing the risks on a construction site.





Qualifications:

• Technical university degree, preferably Civil Engineer
• Proven experience as safety officer on industrial construction/commissioning works in the chemical industrial
• Experience in writing reports on safety observations and events.
• Comfortable with usage of MS Office as day to day tool for reporting and communicating.
• Any supporting reference or certificate in occupational health and safety, first aid, hot works or construction related topics is a plus.
• Flexibility with working times in order to adapt to the workload of the construction site.

Employer: Dfind Science & Engineering

Working hours: Full time at fixed monthly salary. This position is a temporary employment (visstidsanställning) for about 12 months.
