At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.

We are now looking for a Section Lead for Landing Gear Systems to join our Mechanical Systems team in Gothenburg. Do you have experience with aircraft landing gear systems and want to contribute to a more sustainable future?

Your mission

The mission of the Section Lead - Landing Gear Systems is to develop the landing gear systems for the ES-30 electric aircraft and to establish, implement, and refine the ways of working.

As an electric aircraft, this will require novel and innovative approaches to the design of the landing gear systems.

As a new aircraft design organization, it is a unique opportunity to develop and implement the latest generation of tools and processes.

The landing gear systems for the ES-30 comprises: the Nose and Main Landing Gear Structure, Wheels, Brakes, Tires, and the Extension/Retraction, Steering, Braking, and Door Indication Systems.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Leadership and management of the Landing Gear Systems team and ownership of system development and certification activities.
- Providing technical expertise to ensure designs meet safety, performance, and compliance standards, and are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Developing and implementing section and company level policies, processes, procedures, standards, and tools.
- Representing the section at technical and program reviews as well as customer/supplier meetings, ensuring the engineering definition meets all stakeholder requirements.
- Conducting safety assessments and analyses for aircraft, systems, and equipment.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to systems design and safety.
- Developing and maintaining the documentation for the Landing Gear Systems.
- Supporting the aircraft certification process including leading activities with the Airworthiness Authorities.
- Encouraging a culture of continuous learning, facilitating knowledge transfer, and providing mentorship and coaching.

You will report to the Head of Mechanical Systems and your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.

- A team leader with a compliance mindset, strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum 15 years experience with design, development, and certification of aircraft landing gear systems for EASA/FAA Part 23/25 aircraft.
- Understanding and experience of requirements-based design and engineering processes.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles for safety critical systems (ARP 4754/4761).
- Working knowledge of Airborne Electronic Hardware and Software development assurance processes (RTCA DO-178 & 254).
- Experience with developing design concepts and architectures for landing gear systems.
- Practical experience with systems equipment qualification activities (RTCA DO-160).
- Leadership and Management of engineering teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Integration and systems design installation of complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Development and certification testing including rig tests, and aircraft ground/flight tests.
- Experience of working with systems suppliers including evaluation, selection, and management.
- Relish challenge and working in a dynamic environment.
- Aptitude for creative thinking and problem solving.
- Able to adapt to new challenges and go beyond the original field of expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others in an integrated team.
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.

Education

- B.Sc/M.Sc, B.Eng/M.Eng, or equivalent, in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical discipline.
