Senior Lecturer in Computer Science

The School of innovation, design and engineering (IDT) at Mälardalen University Eskilstuna/Västerås is a multi disciplinary research and reduction arena with a strong base in collaboration and co-production with its surrounding community, and close integration between education and research.

Responsibilites
The School of innovation, design and engineering (IDT) invites applications for a senior lecturer in computer science. This position primarily involves teaching at master and bachelor level, and research. The successful candidate is also expected to supervise bachelor, master, and PhD students, and to generate external funding. The successful candidate is required to actively follow the development of his/her field of research within the academic and public arena.

Teaching is primarily within the Computer Science program at the division of Computer Science and Network. Main topics are web development, interaction design, mobile platform, and game development.

Research focus is on tabletop interaction, tangible interfaces, content aggregation, computer supported collaborative work, and ubiquitous computing.

Qualifications
To be appointed as senior lecturer a PhD, or equivalent academic skills, is required, undergone training in teaching and learning in higher education, and demonstrated teaching skills. The successful candidate must have the teaching proficiency required and, unless special reasons, have undergone 10 weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education. When teaching proficiency is assessed planning, undertaking and evaluating teaching is taken into consideration as well as examining and supervising. Documentary corroboration of teaching skills is required to assess the quality.

If the successful candidate does not fulfill the requirements regarding training in teaching and learning in higher education and has not corresponding knowledge he/she will be appointed for one year with the possibility of a second year extension. If the requirement is acquired during this period of time, the employment may be converted into an appointment until further notice upon the senior lecturer s request.

Assessment criteria
Scientific and pedagogical skills are assessed on equal basis.

Areas of concern when assessing pedagogical excellence are on pedagogical development activities as well as teaching and supervision in human computer interaction and interaction design. Pedagogical excellence is assessed on the ability to evoke and spread interest of the field, engagement in the field, and to shape and structure educational courses from the body of knowledge within the field. The ability to engage the students' learning and communication with students will be examined.

Scientific excellence should be shown in terms of conducted, planned and lead research. In addition scientific excellence can be shown through the ability to excel via collaboration with researchers and by informing the public about results in a compressible manner.

Administrative skills must be shown through experience of developing and leading of education, research or staff.
