Vice President of Engineering

We are looking for a Vice President of Engineering (all genders) to join our team. Our verticals are growing both in the number of engineers and product complexity, and given that Delivery Hero is on a path to profitability, you’ll play a key role in balancing out all the constraints and delivering solutions that scale sustainably. Your mission:
● Lead, support, and mentor Senior Engineering Directors to be more effective leaders
● Lead, support, and mentor high-level individual contributors like staff and principal engineers to solve complex problems and ensure a high level of technical excellence across multiple squads in your organization
● Deeply understand the business processes and participate in defining the roadmap, vision, and strategy for your organization in collaboration with your product counterpart
● Plan and ensure stability, scalability & cost efficiency of the systems you own
● Incorporate best practices when it comes to data compliance, PII data protection, and security into our infrastructure, tools, products, processes, and our org culture
● Ensure a high level of employee engagement in your organization; make sure people are growing in their careers and ensure that attrition is low
● Scale-out recruitment efforts and define the criteria for sourcing talented candidates
● Drive both quarterly and long-term objectives and key results with full responsibility for executing the OKRs
● Champion best engineering practices, and be a pragmatic voice showing where to invest engineering effort and where it can best move the needle
Your heroic skills:
● Experience with managing large tech organizations and multiple teams simultaneously
● A strong engineering background, knowledge, and being able to evaluate complex technical decisions
● Responsibility for a high complexity or high traffic project or application, experience with building large distributed systems
● Coaching, mentoring, and setting people up for success
● Past experience with structured performance evaluations and review processes
● A mindset compatible with continuous deployment, agile planning, cloud-based systems, experimentation, and testing
● Past experience with cloud deployments (Kubernetes, AWS or GCP)
● Being able to adapt to change and find pragmatic solutions
