Job title: Subcontracts Agent

Location: Crawley, west Sussex

Quals/Experience required:
Would prefer a relevant HNC/degree or for candidates to be an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent. Will consider ONC (or equivalent) in Business Studies, Economics, Office Administration.

Must have experience working in a Subcontract function in the power generation and/or construction or process industrial sectors, related to global engineering contracting projects.
Thorough knowledge of subcontract formulation and administration processes and best practices essential.
Ability to negotiate effectively with Subcontractors also essential.

Must have a working knowledge of subcontract formulation and administration processes and best practices, working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, and company policies, procedures and work practices.
Effective communication and document management skills and knowledge and understanding of the logics of computerised system and effective application of the business operating procedures.

Key Duties:
Will be responsible for the contract formation process which involves facilitating/supervising the bid process, contractor negotiations and award of all new construction and project related subcontracts.
Will identify potential competitive sources of supply and liaise with the Strategic Sourcing representative to ensure that such sources are acceptable and to develop potential sourcing strategies for project specific subcontracts needs.
Managing negotiations as appointed with potential sub-contractors to obtain "assessed bids" in line with or better than project cost allowances and required deliverables.
Issuing Sub-contracts to suppliers and managing the commercial aspects of the sub-contracts through change orders/amendments as necessary.
Management of spend budget for items sub-contracting, to ensure that budgets are met or bettered.
Maintain a working relationship with Site and Office Based Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Legal and Project Management to facilitate organisational interfaces between those performing subcontract administration activities.
